We all get to the stage in life or moments when we need to be cheered up. Life can be difficult sometimes, especially when your loved one is depressed. It can be anything ,a break up or losing out on a job or just a bad day. These are the days we look up to someone to make us feel better, a friend or family might make us feel better. So, we look for help all the time when we have a shitty day. But, we might also be the helping hand sometime when our family or friends need us. Are we good at cheering them up and consoling them? Most men suck at it and few women are bad at it too.. We just don’t know what is the right thing to say or do when we are in a situation like that.
So Here’s how to cheer someone up in 9 simple ways.
Even the tiniest gestures can make the biggest differences for the upset mind. Being there for your them, letting them vent, and just talking to them helps in a big way!
1. Just listen

Hear them out. Listen to what they have to tell, Nothing feels better than someone listen to what you have to tell. Ask them if its okay for you to insert into their problems. If they are just not in the mood to talk, gibe them the space the they need, wait for them to come to you when they need you because sometimes when you feel low you would just prefer to be alone. so, Don’t bother them to tell what their problem is.Getting everything off of one’s chest is a great step to feeling better in the long run.
2. Relieve their stress

Offer them a helping hand when they might require and if their is something you could do about it. Offer them to help clean up their place, drive their kids to school, making breakfast or just something that you could help them with their daily routine because an upset mind can’t think straight and all of this might be too overwhelming. This will make them believe they are not alone and you are there for them and this will make them feel a lot better.
3. Relate to them

Let them know that you understand how they are feeling, that is only if you really understand how they feel. If you have undergone the same situation before share the experience with them, but don’t over do it. Don’t make it seem like your the bigger victim in the picture. Let them do the most of the talking. Remember its about them and not you!
4. Make them Smile
Sending a brief text message can cheer them up. Writing on a Facebook wall, sending a tweet, posting an old picture. We are not all natural comedians but Even without being a professional comedian we can always make our loved one smile.Just being silly and crazy around them and making goofy faces can make them smile.Laughter is the best medicine to cheer up someones mood. But again, don’t overdo it. You don’t want to annoy them!
5. Distract them
Being distracted can help them forget their problems at least for a while.Even if it is a temporary fix, being happy for a little while is a start. Just as simple as watching a movie, going out for dinners happy hour, pub hoping or even a short trip to nearest beach can be of help.
6. Offer to give advice

But First ask their permission before giving any advice because sometimes you don’t want to hear any advice. Probably he/she might just be venting her/his heart out and not seeking for any advice or solution.
7. Spend time with them
This is the best you can do to cheer up someone. You must have felt it as well! but yet again be around them only if they want you too.. because few people just like to stay away from everyone when they are upset but they will gradually come to you when they need you. Take your time off to spend some time with your friend when they need you. s the old saying goes “Friend is need is a friend in deed”.Ask them what they would like to do? plan a short vacation, because traveling helps a lot to cheer up any bad situation.
